G-U-N-S .... weird

From: Lisa Lazar (lazar.bauer@earthlink.net) | Date: 2007-04-04 05:12:17 UTC
Have you noticed that on the Yahoo page of this discussion forum there
are a number of questions that Yahoo thinks could be answered by the
members of our group?

Have you noticed that they are ALL about one subject? Have we devoted
time to this topic, so that the data miners (poor dusty fellows) have
found us to be the motherlode of information on this topic.

I'm not afraid of using this word, but I figure, why encourage more of
these odd questions?

Lisa

I fiddled with this to see what I can do (as moderator) about having these questions
deleted. It appears to be a new service Yahoo is offering called Yahoo Answers. Our
group is categorized as "Outdoor Recreation" so we are somehow comingled with the
hunters. Unfortunately I cannot turn it off altogether. I can turn what is listed to "all
categories" but it might be easier if people just ignore it when they are on the site. Sorry,
another vagary of utilizing Yahoo for our group list service.

I did a quick check on some of the Yahoo groups and only one, The Great
Lakes Group, had Letterboxing as their category. The Newboxers had
Hiking as their category. Main List, PNW, SoCal, Travelers and even the
Mod List were in the Outdoors category.
